Start 'em / Sit 'em Week 8

John Scherer is a senior analyst for this blog. He is a mulitple league manager and commissioner. He will giving blog updates weekly. This is his start 'em/ sit 'em for Week 8.

Week 8 Who's Hot & Who's Not

Start 'Em

Jason Campbell QB, Washington
Campbell has his best game of 2007 against this week’s opponent, the Lions. Four of the last five QB have gone over 250 against Detroit.

Trent Edwards QB, Buffalo
The Miami pass D stinks and Edwards has found the grove. Besides the Arizona game where he was knocked out early, he’s averaged a solid 238 passing yards a game with 5 total TDs and just 2 INTs.

Matt Schaub QB, Houston
Look for Matt to play well coming off 26-for-31 game & no INT's. He will be a solid start playing @ home against a winless Cinci...

LenDale White RB, Tennessee
Going back to the well again with White this week too. Another RB that isn’t started in a lot of leagues, but the Colts can’t stop the run, and it’s always a better Monday night game when you have somebody playing.

Deuce McAllister RB, New Orleans
Don’t see him splitting much time with Stecker. I Think Deuce will get two-third of the carries at Wembley and will be well over 100 yrds.

Steve Slaton RB, Houston
Slaton should have a big game against Cinci @ home especially if Schaub gets the passing game opened up early. This will create big running gaps in that already weak Cinci D...

DeAngelo Williams RB, Carolina
Williams is emerging as a touchdown machine. He didn't have a TD in first four games, but has had 4 in the last 3. Look for him to run well and score against Arizona's weak run D..

Thomas Jones RB, NYJ
If he's on your roster you have to start him against KC. He's coming off his best performance since 2002 and will continue to run the ball great while Favre lights up the passing game...

Vincent Jackson WR, San Diego
He is having a breakout season. W/Chris Chambers out he has lead his team w/26 reps and 478 yards and is still optimistic even though his team is 3-4. Look for him to be Rivers go to man...

Josh Morgan WR, San Francisco
Morgan emerged last week and made people remember what he did in the preseason. Seattle allows over 25 fantasy points per game to wide receivers and Morgan will be starting this week.

The Jets, Seattle and Washington go up against weak offenses this week. Go ahead and start any of them.

Sit 'em

Eli Manning QB, NYG
He faces a decent Steelers pass defense that is allowing just over 14 fantasy points per game to quarterbacks. He has failed to throw for over 200 yards in each of his last two games, which were against much weaker defenses. Bench him unless you have don’t have any better options.

Matt Ryan QB, Atlanta
The Eagles have had a week to get ready for this game. They should be able to mix things up enough to make Ryan look like a rookie.

JaMarcus Russell QB, Oakland
The Ravens Defense should be able to have their way with Russell and the Raiders.

All Oakland Running Backs
They had a great showing last week and Oakland does run the ball well. Unfortunately they have three guys sharing the ball in Oaktown. This week they face the number one rush defense in the league. The Ravens only allow 58 yards per game on the ground and have only given up one rushing touchdown. More importantly, They are only allowing 11.3 fantasy points per game to running backs. Divide that by two or three, and you aren’t looking at a good fantasy week from the Oakland runners.

Fred Taylor RB, Jacksonville
MJD is slowly taking all carries away from Taylor. Should not be considered starter material.

Aaron Stecker RB, New Orleans
He’s not owned in a lot of leagues, but don’t believe the hype. McAllister will get the carries with Thomas and a cast of thousands getting the receptions for the Saints.

Dwayne Bowe WR, Kansas City
Yeah he’s #10 in the league in receptions, but the Chiefs QB situation is a shambles and you don’t want to have to depend on anybody on this squad.

Joey Galloway WR, TB
Even if Galloway declare he is ready to play, keep him benched until he proves otherwise.

Roy Williams WR, Dallas
It’s tough starting Cowboys wide receivers after watching Brad Johnson last week. He will be at the helm again this week and it made Terrell Owens normally high ranking plummet. Williams plays 4th fiddle behind Owens, Witten, and Barber in that offense. That doesn’t bode well against a Buccaneers defense that has really been coming on lately and has only allowed 13 points in the last 2 weeks.
